HJTEP Coaching StaffKatrina Adams- The Executive Director since October 2005 is a USPTA, USPTR and USTA High Performance certified coach. She played at Northwestern University, where she was a Rookie All-American and captured the 1987 NCAA Doubles Championship. Adams enjoyed a 12 year career on the WTA Tour, where she was ranked a career high No. 67 in singles and No. 8 in doubles. She captured 20 WTA doubles titles. The WTA presented her with the Player Service Award in 1996 and 1997.Upon retiring from the pro tour, Adams was a USTA National Coach from 1999 to 2002 for the USA Tennis High Performance program where she helped develop some of the nation’s top players. She is a currently an Analyst for The Tennis Channel and Director at Large on the USTA Board. She was inducted into the USTA Midwest Section hall of Fame in 2005 and the USTA Chicago District Tennis Association Hall of Fame in 2008. Dante Brown- The Program Director since 1993, is a USPTA certified teaching professional. Dante is a graduate of HJTEP. As a result of his HJTEP training, Dante received a scholarship to Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, where he played varsity tennis. He then played on the professional tour for a number of years. Dante is an excellent coach with players on all levels. He teaches beginners, intermediate, and tournament players. Esu Maat- A USPTA and USTA High Performance certified teaching professional is a graduate from the HJTEP. Esu received a scholarship to Fairleigh Dickinson University. He played #2 singles for four years and was an All-American his last two years. Esu is an excellent coach with our intermediate and tournament level players. Charles Solorzano- A USPTA certified teaching professional is a graduate from the HJTEP. Charles received a scholarship to Mitchell University. He played #5 singles for the university and continues to play competitively. Charles works well with our players on all levels. Simone Spigner- A USPTR certified teaching professional has over 10 years experience as a coach and is a graduate of HJTEP. Simone attended South Carolina State University on a 4 year tennis scholarship. She has great respect working with our beginner and intermediate players. Maurice Washington- A USPTR certified teaching professional. He has been teaching tennis for over fifteen years. Maurice works well with our beginners and intermediate level players. Phil Williamson- A former top 300 ATP Tour player, who is a graduate of Columbia University, has wins over the likes of Ivan Lendl, Jimmy Connors and more. Phil is USPTA, PTR certified and is a USTA High Performance Coach. He is a product of HJTEP and has been the executive director of the program. Phil brings a different level of coaching to the program with his experience and expertise, when he’s not traveling with high level tournament players. |
